Pedestrian Walk

MBTA’s design for Transforming the Campus Landscape at Villanova University removed vehicles from the main campus and provided accessible and pedestrian-friendly spaces, enriching the experience for the community and its visitors. The bold construction plan spanned three years and 24 acres, tying together previously unrelated buildings into a coherent ensemble. It included designing a new Grotto; an outdoor area for small, intimate services, to replace the previous, informal Grotto. The sacred statue’s new surroundings enhance her presense on campus and provide students with a secluded place to gather, reflect, recharge and pray.
