William Rush Sculpture Restoration & Reconstruction

View a behind-the-scenes look at the replication process from start to finish of the Allegory of the Schuylkill River (Nymph and Bittern) statue by William Rush. The original statue was recently and carefully replicated by a team of conservators and re-installed at the South Garden Marble Fountain at Fairmount Water Works. The award-winning project was made possible in partnership with Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Stratton Sculpture Studio, Mark B. Thompson Associates LLC, and the Dietrich Foundation. To learn more about Fairmount Park Conservancy's conservation services, visit myphillypark.org.
